Husqvarna is backing 2010 racing in a big way by offering more than $11 million in contingency awards for 145 different U.S. racing series this season. "Think of it as the Husqvarna Bailout Program," says Marketing & Racing Chief Scot Harden. "Even though the economy is going through some tough times, now isn't the time to back down.

Triumph Motorcycle History 

Siegfried Bettmann founded the Triumph Cycle Company in 1887 and promptly acquired premises in Coventry in which he began manufacturing bicycles. In 1902, as technology advanced, the company moved into the production of powered cycles. By 1905 the factory output had reached 500 motorcycles per year, with the machines being designed, manufactured and built at the Coventry site.

American Honda announced today that Honda Red Bull Racing's Andrew Short underwent further medical examinations as a result of his crash at the San Diego Supercross over the weekend.

Short has sustained a lower leg injury, which is expected to sideline him for approximately six weeks. Short will, however, still be in attendance at Angel Stadium to meet fans, sign autographs and participate in all Honda Red Bull Racing PR activities this weekend at Anaheim 3.

American Honda will release further details regarding Short's injuries when all tests have been completed.

Chad Reed injury update San Diego

Chad Reed, still recovering from a broken hand sustained early in the 2010 Supercross Season, flew to California to see his doctor this week. From what we could tell, Reed is still not ready to ride his motorcycle or jump back into the race action quite yet. Reed's new Kawasaki Team reports that Chad hopes to be riding soon. They also anticipate that Reed will be racing sometime next month.

Massachusetts motorcyclists get insurance refunds

Motorcyclists who had insurance through three companies in Massachusetts will get refunds from hundreds to thousands of dollars under a settlement agreement between the state and the insurance companies. State Attorney General Martha Coakley announced that her office has entered into settlement agreements with Safety Insurance Company, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company to resolve allegations the companies overcharged consumers.

Jake Weimer again! Supercross Lites San Diego

SX Race Report

Kawasaki rider Jake Weimer brought home his fourth win in five races at a muddy Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. With just one short practice and a deteriorating racetrack, the 22-year-old claimed the Supercross Lites victory and extended his points lead to 26 with just three races remaining in the West Coast season.

The consistent rain made for a long day at the track as the teams waited nearly six hours for practice to start. The track crew did a good job keeping the track in good shape as it improved with each session.
