1) Motorcycle Safety Fact: Over half of all fatal motorcycle crashes involve another vehicle. Most of the time, the motorist, not the motorcyclist, is at fault. There are a lot more cars and trucks than motorcycles on the road, and some drivers don't "recognize" a motorcycle - they ignore it (usually unintentionally).
Motorcycle Visibility
About half of all motorcycle crashes in the United States involve another motor vehicle. In many cases, the driver of the other vehicle never saw the motorcycle rider-or didn't see him or her until it was too late. However, in a multi-vehicle crash, both drivers share responsibility.

Countersteering Demonstrated
Click video to learn more about motorcycle countersteering. Countersteering is the technique used by motorcyclists to initiate a turn toward a given direction by first steering counter to the desired direction ("steer left to turn right").
In order to negotiate a turn successfully, the combined center of mass of the rider and the motorcycle must first be leaned in the direction of the turn, and steering momentarily in the opposite direction causes that lean.
