2011 KTM Streetbikes

KTM has announced its line of street motorcycles for 2011, with the 1190 RC8 R returning as the Austrian brand's flagship superbike.

Updates to the RC8 R include a new crankshaft with updated mass distribution that is claimed to make the 1195cc V-twin motor run more smoothly.

New KTM dual spark plug ignition is intended to increase combustion control, improve performance, lower emission levels and reduce fuel consumption. To match the dual plug head, there is revised fuel mapping.

The 2011 KTM RC8 R superbike will also receive a new slipper clutch, improved shifter linkage, updated suspension settings, a lighter rear shock spring, and new adjustable-ration rear suspension linkage.

Dunlop Sportmax SportMart motorcycle tires will be shod on orange cast aluminum Marchesini wheels-graphics are also new, as is the high-gloss paint.

The KTM multi-function dash has been updated to display the gear position in both Street and Race mode. Current and average fuel consumption can now be displayed, and the rider can switch between two fuel grade options.

The KTM 990 SM T (SuperMotard Touring) motorcycle returns in 2011 with a new Bosch ABS setup. In the front, the SM T has dual 305mm floating rotors and twin four-piston Brembo calipers that are radially mounted.

The front brake master cylinder is also radially mounted, and there are steel-braided brake lines, front and back. The adventure-touring motorcycle also gets new high-gloss white paint. Its brother, the 990 SM R, is unchanged. Also unchanged are the dirt-oriented 990 Adventure and 990 Adventure R motorcycle models.

For the more off-road focused dirt-bike riders, the 2011 KTM 690 Enduro R gets new triple clamps for increased maneuverability. The 530 EXC and 450 EXC are unchanged this year.
