2011 Harley-Davidson Softail
The Harley-Davidson Dark Custom line of motorcycles, which first appeared four years ago, has been a blessing to the younger rider set. Blacked out and minimalistic, the Dark Customs exude a sense of old-skool nostalgia with a touch of modern moto-enhancements like optional ABS and an H-D security system.
Motorcycle Helmet Review
It's been five years since German helmet manufacturer Schuberth has had U.S. distribution, and it seemed like forever to some of us. Having parted ways with their previous U.S. distributor, the nearly 90-year old company regrouped and decided to do it right.
2011 Harley-Davidson FLHTK
The top-of-the-line Harley-Davidson touring ride is one damn cool machine. A heavy beast to be sure, the FLHTK Electra Glide Ultra Limited checks in at a claimed road-ready 901 pounds. However, once underway, those pounds melt away fast. I would dare say it is even nimble once there is some velocity happening.
Motorcycle Review
If you say the name Tiger these days you are most likely talking about some-one rather than some-thing. As a motorcycle enthusiast, what you should be talking about though is the 2010 Triumph Tiger SE, because this bike dominates on many levels.
Motorcycle Boots
When Thor MX, maker of some of the strongest and smartest off-road gear decided to make a boot designed for lighter duty, they did it right. That should come as no surprise from a company that has been around for 43 years and has won 49 off-road championships.
Motorcycle Gear
If you are looking for a motorcycle road boot that is low cut but ultra-efficient, you need look no further than Alpinestars' Octane Shoe. I own a pair of A-Star Street Sneakers from a few years back, so I was interested to see where they had taken the whole low-cut street boot technology.
Bagger-Swagger
The shark-nose fairing-bearing Harley-Davidson Road Glide motorcycle has always stylistically been my favorite H-D, and swinging a leg over one has never been easier. For 2010, the Road Glide Custom FLTRX has tastefully been slammed in the rear, lowering the seat height to a mere 26 inches laden, and 29.5 inches unladen.
BMW Motorrad Days
Though I will be going to Germany in three weeks to rock out at a German heavy metal festival, I will not be riding a motorcycle. But regardless, if you plan to be in Deutschland from July 2-4 this year, you must make it a point to get to Munich.
Sportster 48
So, what's new out there in the motorcycle world? Well, one thing is the new addition to Harley-Davidson's Dark Custom line-The Forty-Eight Sportster.
I was lucky enough to nab an invite to the unveiling of this beast at NYC's Ace Hotel the Thursday before the NYC Javits Bike Show began.
Straight-Shot Performance
Based on the design of the winning XR-750 flat track race bike that experienced its heyday back in the 1970's, the 2010 Harley-Davidson XR1200 motorcycle is an extremely capable street bike that breaks from your typical Harley-Davidson design on a number of levels.
Iron Clad 883
Throwing a leg over the 2010 Harley-Davidson 883 Iron is one of the easiest things you will ever do, as its seat height is a mere 25.3 inches off the ground.
Motorcycle Jacket Review
The Grayson motorcycle jacket by Fox Creek Leather is one of the best riding jackets I have ever donned. In chillier weather, this jacket's virtues are shining. A perfect example is this morning's commute, which I knew would require my heated jacket liner to be used.
