World Record Speed

"I just got accepted into the Guinness Book of World Records as the Fastest Woman in the World on a Motorcycle!" says Leslie Porterfield.

Already known as one of the fastest women motorcyclists in the world, this is an exciting moto accomplishment for a woman who has already brought lots of excitement to the sport of motorcycling in just a short period of time.

"Land-speed racing is one of the most exciting and pure types of motorcycling competition, and right now, Chris and Denis occupy the pinnacle of the sport," Porterfield said at the 22nd Annual AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Breakfast at Daytona this March 5, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) reports.

Leslie Porterfield's most notable motorcycle speed accomplishments include; 1) Top Time on a "Sit on Motorcycle Award" from the 2009 BUB Speed Trials at 240mph, 2) First Woman on a conventional motorcycle in the Bonneville 200mph Club, 3) 2008 AMA Female Rider of the Year and 4) Women's Spirit Award at the 2008 Bub Speed Trials.

Leslie Porterfield's most notable motorcycle speed records include; 1) SCTA 1350cc M-BF at 209.046 mph, 2) AMA and FIM 2000cc MPS-BF at 232.522 mph, 3) AMA and FIM 1000cc P-P at 192.930 mph and 4) AMA 1350cc APS-BF at 234mph.

Originally from Dallas Texas, Porterfield has been riding motorcycles since the age of 16. She has an Accounting Degree but for the love of it ended-up working for a Yamaha shop. In a short time, she owned part of the shop and later opened her very own High Five Cycles (pre-owned motorcycle dealership) in Dallas, TX in 2005.

She always dreamed of setting a world record at Bonneville and after a 110 mph crash, 7 broken ribs and a punctured lung, she persevered.
