High-Performance Collection
Motorcycle road racers, track day fanatics, and riders who want high-performance apparel for passionate street riding will be interested in the Fall 2010 motorcycle collection from Alpinestars. Leading the way is the new Tech 1-R One Piece Leather Suit, which is based on the top-of-the-line Race Replica suit, but is designed to appeal to a wider range of riders.
Born of MotoGP testing by such riders as world champions Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner, the Tech 1-R suit features external polyurethane shoulder and knee protectors for impact dissipation and absorption, as well as one piece CE-approved GP‐R knee/shin protectors and GP Series elbow protectors maximize protection.
Multiple snap button system on the Tech 1-R allows integration with Alpinestars' Level 2 CE certified Bionic Race Back protector, and padding in chest compartment can be upgraded with Alpinestars Bionic chest pads for even greater safety performance.
Top grade 1.3 mm leather uses extended perforated panels on upper and lower body for improved ventilation of the Tech 1-R suit. The innovative U‐shape back accordion stretch panel improves flexibility, and is claimed to maintain the fit of the suit while riding, as well as permit a wider range of fitment options for users.
This two‐piece stretch panel uses the least amount of stitching possible to reduce the chance of seam degradation during impact, according to Alpinestars. Premium YKK front zip closure and semi-automatic locking wrist closures offer secure fastening.
A MotoGP-profile perforated back hump offers improved aerodynamic and ventilation performance by promoting air flow throughout the suit. Alpinestars patented calf expansion pockets improve range of fit, and Aramidic stretch panels on sleeves and crotch improve fit and feel for the rider.
The inner mesh liner is removable and can be washed. The suggested retail price of the Tech 1-R One-Piece Leather Suit is $1400, and it can be had in sized 46-60 (and up to 64 in black/white).
There is also a stand-alone Tech 1-R Leather Jacket that utilizes the features of the top half of the one-piece suit. The jacket can be zipped to Alpinestars' new Track Leather Pants, with uses full-grain 1.3mm leather, multiple‐stitched main seam construction for maximum tear resistance, ergonomically placed stretch Kevlar panels for optimal flexibility, Alpinestars replaceable Sport Knee Sliders, and premium YKK Semi Auto Lock zippers.
Removable CE certified GP Protectors afford excellent impact resistance, while built‐in hip padding is integrated for added comfort and impact absorption. Internally reinforced seat area aids abrasion protection and helps prevent garment deformation as a result of high friction while sliding in an accident, and the extended high rear waist construction provides greater overlap with the riding jacket to ensure maximum material coverage of the body at all times. For comfort, there are perforated leather panels for greater ventilation, and patented calf expansion pockets.
The Tech 1-R Leather jacket has a suggested retail price of $650, and comes in Euro sizes 46-60 (and up to 64 in black/white). The Track Leather pants are available in sizes 44-58 (and 60 in black only), and have a suggested retail price of $400.
For more street-oriented riders who still want protection worth of the track, the new Alpinestars Trigger One-Piece Leather Suit (Short Version) combines optimum protection, fashionable looks and high levels of movement and flexibility. It is cut specifically to fit riders of shorter stature.
The Trigger suit is made using high quality full grain leather with strategically placed perforated leather zones integrated perfectly to provide superior ventilation. The suit provides optimum levels of abrasion resistance, according to Alpinestars, while the company's range of CE approved armor located in the shoulders and forearm provides the suit with excellent protection at critical impact zones.
Kevlar panels located around the leg and groin area and down the inner arm help to provide a tight, secure, adaptable fit whilst maximizing the rider's mobility. Accordion stretch zones located under the arm, in the lower back and over the knee ensure ease of movement. Additional protection can be added with the use of optional Alpinestars Bionic race back protector or Alpinestars Bionic chest pad. PE padding over the chest provides additional protection to the core area in the event of an impact.
The aerodynamic back hump promotes airflow throughout the suit for excellent cooling performance, and semi‐automatic lock zippers on the cuff and calf area for secure closure. The mesh liner is removable and washable, while the knee sliders are replaceable. The Trigger suit is available in size 48-64, and has a suggested retail price of $800.
