For 2013, BMW updated its mid-weight adventure motorcycle, the F 800 GS.

The older brother of the F700GS, the machine that replaces the F650GS for 2013, the F800GS retains its 798cc liquid-cooled 4-valve 2-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection that produces 85 horsepower at 7500 rpm.

The changes arrive in styling, gauges, paint finishes and a list of options, such as a lowered seat height.

And in accordance with BMW’s new “Safety 360°” principle, the 2013 F800GS features BMW Motorrad ABS as standard, and other safety-related innovations within their respective classes, such as the optional ASC (Automatic Stability Control) and the likewise optional ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment).

The main styling refinements arrive in the side trim, which provides a more dynamic look. The analog speedometer and engine speed display are now arranged vertically, their new dial faces ensuring further improved legibility of road speed and engine speed in F 800 GS. What is more, the information display already includes fuel level and coolant temperature as standard.

As for options, the one that’s likely to please many is the optional lowered suspension. BMW says in response to popular demand among existing F 800 GS customers for a reduction in seating height, BMW Motorrad now offers a lowered suspension in conjunction with a lower seat.

For 2013, the BMW F800GS is available in Kalamata metallic matt, Cordoba blue and Alpine white 3.
