2012 Yamaha YZF-R6

The Yamaha R6 has once again proved its significance as a top-performing sportbike, the machine taking the World Supersport title with pilot Chaz Davies.

With an already title-winning platform, Japanese marquee didn't have to change anything on the YZF-R6; the only new addition 2012 is color options.

For 2012, the R6 will be offered in a limited-edition MotoGP 50th Anniversary Edition just likes it's older brother, the 2012 R1. The LE celebrates Yamaha's racing heritage with Pearl White/Rapid Red livery.

Only 1500 of these LE R6s will be produced worldwide, so it's guaranteed to quickly become a collector.

There may be new paint, but all the carry-over, title-winning guts are in place, including the compact, lightweight 67mm x 42.5mm, 599cc DOHC 16-valve, liquid-cooled titanium-valved four-cylinder that has a compression ratio of 13.1:1.

And all the technological components are also there: Fuel injection mapping for the YCC-T-Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle dual-injector system that complements the high compression ratio for great throttle response and reduced engine braking, and YCC-I-Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake that electronically varies intake tract length for a broader powerband.

Technology aside, the 2012 Yamaha R6 is one stylish Supersport, as the wallpaper above shows.
