2012 Honda Motorcycle
In 2010, Honda redesigned the Honda VFR, bringing previous-800cc era up to 1200cc, the new model titled the VFR1200F.
The machine was totally revamped using concepts from MotoGP and other cutting-edge motorcycle enviroments, from different fairings to a tweaked chassis to the power-hungry satisfying 1237cc V4.
Besides the major revisions, Honda also offered the option of an automatic Dual Clutch Transmission. This transmission provided the rider either a fully automatic mode, or the ability to switch the gears using a paddle shifter on the left control.
The bike was immediately praised, and nothing changed on it for 2011. In fact, Honda didn't even offer a 2011 Honda VFR1200F stateside.
But for 2012, the VFR1200F returns with a hosts of upgrades. The new Honda VFR 1200 F now features the additional of traction control that can be turned off by the rider, a second-generation automatic Dual Clutch Transmission, more low-end torque, increased fuel efficiency and a redesigned seat for added comfort.
Honda says the "Honda Traction Control system helps the rear wheel put power down to the ground effectively and efficiently by automatically limiting wheelspin," and the updated Dual Clutch Transmission now "intelligently optimizes shift points relative to the rider's throttle inputs for more user-friendly operation."
The V4, which features the uni-cam valve train that allows the engine to remain narrow between the riders leg, was revamped for more low-end torque between 2000 and 4000 rpm.
As for styling, the 2012 Honda VFR 1200 F retains the layered fairing system, which looks like two fairings and utilize now fasteners on the outside. The gas tank looks the same, but its capacity was increased to five gallons for more fuel mileage.
But there was some change to the instrumentation. The Honda VFR1200F now features "a large, sporty" analogue tachometer and a digital speedometer that are surrounded by LCD readouts, which include instantaneous fuel consumption, average fuel consumption and remaining range. The display also includes a clock, ambient temperature display, Traction Control System activation (On/Off) and ABS indicator.
Other improvements on the 2012 Honda VFR1200F include a redesigned seat for both rider and passenger comfort, and a new color, Candy Blue, which is the only offering for 2012.
Since Honda revamped the VFR in 2010, the bike has received much praise from motorcycle industry and riders alike. And with the revamped 2012 model, it looks as if Honda is hoping to bring in another year of praise for its famed VFR, a machine that's been in exsistence in various forms since 1983.
