Honda Goldwing

When the Honda announced the released information and images of the 2012 Gold Wing, the touring market immediately demanded more.

It didn't take long for YouTube videos to surface, such as this one, showing many different photos of the 2012 Honda Gold Wing. The video also explains all the new features on that will be offered on the granddaddy of all motorcycle touring machines.

The 2012 Honda Gold Wing will feature many upgrades, including an updated GPS navigation system with user-friendly program-ability for sharing favorite ride routes with friends and other riders, which can be accessed online.

Regarding rider/passenger comfort, the suspension has been updated for comfort but with enhanced sporty capabilities. The motor and drivetrain have been refined, and the 2012 Goldwing has extra luggage space, and greater protection from wind and weather.

Additional packages are available for the 2012 Honda Gold Wing, including Navi, ABS and airbag options.

Following are a few 2012 Goldwing highlights:

  • Fresh styling cues produce a more integrated appearance along with a sporting edge, adding to the premium touring visage.
  • Redesigned fairing adds extra wind protection, especially to the lower body and leg areas.
  • Larger saddlebags add approximately 7 liters of additional storage space, upping total capacity to well over 150 liters including the trunk and fairing pockets.
  • Handy central storage pocket added to models without airbag.
  • Revised suspension settings front and rear yield added compliance for a better ride and more comfort.
  • Urethane seat material and cover material give added comfort.
  • Re-shaped taillight adds a distinctive appearance and aids visibility.
  • Wheels are now clear-coated for easier cleaning and a great, long-lasting look.
  • Updated instrumentation styling lends a high-performance touch.

Had a 750K.Been riding my brother's GW's (a 1500 and an 1800)for years. Just bought my own in October. I don't know what all the complaining is about.Adjust your damn windshield correctly and you won't have to re-adjust it. Rode a Harley just to see what it was about. It is about "nothing". Rode a Victory to see what it was about..nice bike but can't hold a candle to the GW. And as far as the BMW is concerned...yep, rode the new one of that too..not comfortable enough for this guy. But look fellows, if you are going to cover a
L O T of miles in a day......like Chattanooga Tennessee to Annapolis Maryland(and not just a one-state-line trek) and want to do it in comfort, with more than enough power and outstanding dynamics, and want to be fresh when you reach your destination, just face up to the fact that the wing is king. And 42MPG is fine with me for the pleasure and comfort that big beautiful bike provides. Sure you can buy a 4-wheeler for the price. But you can say that about ANY top line touring bike....as in 35grand+ for a CVO? Give me a break. If you don't like the wing it is your loss. Time marches on..things change..the Wing marches on..evolving.

While I agree the changes are minimal (would have liked a 6 speed tranny), the Vision and the BMW are still not in the same league. If I wanted a baggage holding sport bike, the BMW would fit the bill. The Vision is about 50 years early for styling (those who hate the Wing but love the Vision have other problems). Hopefully, the 2013 will bring the changes needed.

you take an old gold wing, some used h-d parts, some victory parts, some bmw parts, throw them all together, and what do you get? a new gold wing. give me a break. the high priced designers at Honda need to be shown the where the exit is, and lock the door behind them. BMW, here i come.

Is that wing without a trunk for real..I want to remove mine.

I don't know what all the bitching is about. Honda finally took that big blob of Tupperware and designed into it some shape, flow and color. I'm not a GW fan, I'm not fat enough - maybe that's the appeal, the bike makes your ass look smaller. You guys are as bad as H-D people, you are adverse to change.

Based on all the negativity re the 2102, it's looking to me like all you disgruntled GW riders would be doing yourselves a service by looking into the Victory Vision and Cross bikes. Then you'll know what we Victory riders have known about dependability, comfort, handling and high fuel mileage. Another advantage to Victory ownership is you can find your bike parked among all of those belly button bikes at the rally. One disadvantage is folks will want to talk about your Victory - especially H-D riders. Ride Victory or ride defeat.

Looks like there are a fair number of disgruntled Wing riders that would be doing themselves a huge favor to look into the Victory Cross bikes and the Victory Vision. Go into victoryforums.com and learn what we Victory riders already know about dependability, handling, comfort and great fuel mileage. You'll be able to find your bike among all those belly button GWs. You can ride Victory or you can ride defeat.

with the move from Ohio to Japan and taking a year off from production i was expecting a totally new and amazing bike. Fortunatley BMW has given us that new and amazing bike. I was anticipating trading in my 06 GW for what i thought would be a much better bike. Honda will pay the price at he showroom for this new Victory knockoff. With the tradgedy that has happened in Japan i can only assume Honda is now realizing the move back to the island was a mistake. Fifteen years with Honda and i may now have to join the ranks of the smobby Germans.

I hate this diesign if you may call it "design". Seems Honda has lost faith in itself and is now trembling at the sight of the 1600 BMWs. Where are the lights in the saddlebags gone? 7 litres more space gained by losing the saddlebag lights. Go away, Honda.
The two or three tone paint scheme is even uglier than Marty Feldman ever was...

I think they have done all this in order to sell painted fairing lowers, so you can match the colour of the bike.

I remember when the 1100, the 1200, the 1500 and the 1800 came out, there were always comments by unhappy people, and this multiplies with the internet, but this far I haven't seen more than one or two happy comments. The rest is all negative.

Maybe they have done good things like modernizing the radio and the Sat-Nav, but the first impression is awful.
