2012 Honda CBR1000RR
In 2012, Honda's CBR liter bike turns 20-years old, the latest edition the CBR1000RR that arrived on the market in 2004. Throughout its 20 years, the CBR has grown from the original 900 RR (1992) to the 929 RR (2000) to the 954 RR (2003) and finally the 1000.
For 2012, Honda upgraded its superbike for sharper handling, allowing it to handle like a mid-weight but with the massive power of the 999cc inline four. The largest upgrades were in the suspension department.
The 2012 Honda CBR1000RR features a patented Balance-Free Rear Shock, Showa 43mm Big Piston fork and 12-spoke aluminum wheels. When combined, these components provide more feedback to the rider, and a more solid feel during braking.
Internally, the motor remains the same, but the CBR1000RR arrives with revised fuel injection settings that give the CBR1000RR a more linear response, particularly at smaller throttle openings.
The CBR 1000 RR features dual 320mm discs brakes up front, with a 220mm rear disc out back. And if riders opt for the electronic Combined ABS, they feature a new bias toward sporting/track riding conditions during rear brake application.
