2012 Ducati 1199 Wallpaper
For 2012, Ducati offers an entirely new superbike built on a non-trellis style frame, the 1199 Panigale. The Panigale, pronounce "Pan-ee-gah-lee," replaces the 1198 for 2012, and is offered in the standard version, the S (shown above) and the Tricolore.
The new Italian superbike features a 195-horsepower "Superquadro" L-Twin desmo engine that offers three rider modes and eight levels of traction control.
The 1199 is built on a new Monocoque frame that allowed Ducati engineers to shave 22 lbs. from the 1199 superbike, the machine weighing in at 414 lbs. wet (standard, S).
The 1199 S, which is highlighted above as wallpaper, is further enhanced with front and rear Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) built by Ohlins. This suspension system utilizes 43mm Ohlins NIX30 forks and an Ohlins TTX36 rear unit, which are both electronically adjustable in compression and rebound, while spring pre-load is manual.
ABS is also optional on the S model, which has an MSRP of $22,995 ($23,995 with ABS).
