After Ryan Dungey sealed a record-breaking 2010 season, winning both the AMA Supercross and Motocross championships, he added to the already notorious legend of the Suzuki RM-Z450.
And for 2010, Dungey and his new teammate, Brett Metcalfe, are hoping to give the Suzuki dirtbike even more notoriety in 2011.
This shouldn't be hard, considering the RM-Z450 track record; the machine currently has the most 450cc wins and the most 450cc-class championships in AMA Supercross / Motocross history.
Although already a huge success, Suzuki engineers continue to modify newer models of the RMZ450, keeping a proactive notion as technology ascends in motocross machines.
The RM-Z450, which dominated the most when the four-stroke era began, was the first motocross / supercross machine to feature fuel injection. For 2011, the Suzuki says the RM-Z450 has been updated for 2011 to meet a stricter AMA noise limit of 94db while keeping its smooth engine output.
The RM-Z is not only quieter, it also produces more power, thanks in part to a higher compression ratio and refined intake and exhaust timing. Suzuki has also made the RM-Z450 easier to maintain and tune by making some changes to the electronic fuel injection settings.
But Suzuki didn't stop there; the RM-Z450 features the best possible chassis, suspension and brakes to make certain it remains at the top of the class. Suzuki says what you have with the 2011 Suzuki RM-Z450 is a cutting-edge open-class motocross ride that's even more potent than ever.
Suzuki says as a racer, you want quick, laser-accurate steering and confidence-inspiring high-speed handling in one package. And you also want a high-performance machine with a racing pedigree that enables it to be competitive right out of the crate.
The Suzuki RM-Z450 is that machine, and Dungey and Metcalfe will be looking to prove that (again) during the 2011 AMA Supercross and Motocross season.
