KLX250 Motorcycle Recall

Kawasaki has recalled 2009-2010 KLX250 motorcycles due to possible fuel-tank leakage; 9,460 KLX 250 motorcycles are affected.

Kawasaki says the fuel tank could leak from cracks at the spot-welds on the side-mount tabs due to stress from excessive clearance between the tank and frame-mounted rubber damper. If leakage occurs on the KLX, this could cause a fire or explosion, resulting in injury.

Dealers will inspect and correct the fuel tank free of charge. Owners may contact Kawasaki Consumer Services Department at 1-866-802-9381 (reference Safety Recall No. MC11-04). Owners may also contact the NHTSA's safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit safercar.gov.
