At Cowboys Stadium Saturday evening in Arlington, Texas, James Stewart kept his 2011 AMA Supercross title hopes alive by taking fourth in the main event, a repeat result of the previous week's SX event in Toronto.
Also like in Toronto Supercross, Stewart won his heat race and got a great start in the main event. But while battling for second with his rival Chad Reed, the two collided.
Stewart was able to remount the Yamaha YZ450F quickly, though, and went on to finish in fourth behind winner Trey Canard (Two-Two Motorsports Honda), Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy Kawasaki), and Ryan Dungey (Rockstar Makita Suzuki).
James Stewart (San Manuel Yamaha) says: "It's not the result I was looking for," Stewart said. "I feel like I've been riding good, but things just aren't quite clicking. I'm going to work on it this week, get some good training in and hope to get it together in St. Louis."
Stewart is currently fifth in the AMA Supercross series, 21 points behind leader Villopoto. JS7 still has a shot with four races remaining, and 100 points up for grabs.
