Daytona Bike Week 2011
For anyone who's been to Daytona for Bike Week, they know it's a motorcycle enthusiast's sensory overload of activities. Although the famous Bike Week is winding down (events and happenings started March 4 and will run through the 13 at the legendary race venue) there are still plenty of things happening, culminating with the famous Daytona 200 roadrace.
Daytona represents the final stop for the Progressive Insurance International motorcycle show. One of the bikes on display will be the highly anticipated unveiling of the Motus Motorcycle.
Motus is an American company producing a V-4 sportbike. The official unveiling is Thursday, March 10. To see more go to the Motus website and facebook page. Superstar stunt rider, Jason Britten will also be performing in the Progressive International Motorcycle Show.
Harley-Davidson has a large presence in Daytona, at Riverfront Park on Beach Street and at Daytona International Speedway. Demo rides are available for 2011 models along with an interactive motorcycle display, free motorcycle parking, and a chance to design, build, and fit a personalized Harley-Davidson motorcycle to your own unique taste.
Saturday, March 12, Daytona Sport Bike Fest, hosted by Maravilla, kicks off from 2PM and goes until 9PM. Peruse custom sport bikes, listen to live music from DJ DVS and DJ Arsonist.
You'll find discounts on merchandise while enjoying specials on food and drink. There will be a special appearance by 9-time World Champion Drag Racer Ricky Gadson. Then visit the Suzuki booth at the Progressive Motorcycle Show to see the new 2011 GSX-R600.
Following tradition, Daytona Bike Week leads up to, and closes with, the Annual Daytona 200. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the event. The historic event officially kicks off the start of the AMA roadracing season. New teams, new riders, new motorcycles take to the banking in the most challenging and unique race of the season.
In addition to all this Honda is presenting their Ride for Kids, Ducati is hosting a season kick-off party March 11 at the Ocean Deck in Daytona Beach from 7PM to 10PM with Ducati riders in attendance as well as an appearance by the new Ducati Diavel. Attendees to Daytona can demo bikes from all the major manufacturers; Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki, Victory, Suzuki, Can-Am, Yamaha, Triumph, and Honda.
Daytona signals the beginning of motorcycle season. If you can't be in attendance in sunny Florida, check out the Speed TV schedule to find select races on the tube.
