2012 AMA Supercross Prep

Up until 2011, Chad Reed relied on major sponsorships in the AMA Supercross/Motocross championships.

And during that time, the Australian conquered the circuits, garnering two Supercross titles and a Supercross Lites title.

But for 2011, the racer turned businessman, and formed his own team and business - Two-Two Motorsports. Besides proving to himself he could be successful as a businessman, Reed also proved he could be successful at the race track after he finished the 2011 Supercross Championship second overall behind winner Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy). During the 2011 season, Reed had nine overall podium finishes.

Chad Reed (Two-Two Motorsports Honda CRF450) says: "Being an owner is fun for me - I enjoy working with multiple personalities and working on how to put the right combo together. It's a successful relationship for all. I play a very active role as team owner; nothing gets done without my approval."

For 2012, Reed will once again compete aboard the Two-Two Motorsports Honda CR-F 450, taking his experience to campaign against his main rivals, which include Villopoto, Ryan Dungey (Red Bull KTM) and James Stewart (JGRMX Yamaha). And his experience is lengthy in the Supercross Championship - he has 141 career SX-class starts, and 114 podiums.

Chad Reed says: "I have the same strategy as always: to win. To win it, you must be in it. You have to be on the podium every week and win when you can. I try to be on the podium every week and win when you can."

"You can't buy experience. Since I started racing, a lot has changed, and I wouldn't change a thing about my career. I feel like I have a much better understanding of the sport. As far as training goes, I've stepped it up to take on the kids."

In 2012, Reed is expecting the old rivalry between him and Stewart to return.

Chad Reed says: "James and I have a lot of respect for each other and what gets in the way is we both want to win and neither of us let anything get in the way of that. My job is to show up prepared and do what I do best."

Reed began racing stateside in 2003, winning the Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Class championship as a rookie and moving into the Supercross Class the following season. He will be at the starting line for the 17-round AMA Supercross Championship on Jan. 7 in Angel Stadium, Anaheim, Calif.
