Triumph, the British motorcycle marquee, has been commonly been known to produce a wide range of sport, cruiser and touring motorcycles that are all designed to provide an exceptional motorcycling experience.
These iconic bikes include the storied Bonneville to the class-originating Speed Triple, in which Triumph offers a blend of design, character and performance that result in rather distinctive motorcycles.
Triumph Motorcycles has now officially confirmed that it is developing two all-new Adventure motorcycles that are due to launch later this year. Obviously these new bikes will be more Adventure oriented than the current Tiger model. But what does that mean?
In additional to the time-honored BMW R 1200 GS other European manufactures have honed-in on the Adventure market space. They see it as an opportunity to attract an aging group of riders who want both performance and versatility from their motorcycles.
These maturing riders want a more comfortable seating position, the ability to ride two-up, handling adept enough for multiple road surfaces and the performance of a superbike.
Ducati pick-up on this trend and successful launched the new Multistrada 1200 while KTM has released the intriguing 990 SM T (Supermoto Touring). Both are more sport / superbike oriented than the BMW GS, offering lighter weight, higher-performance suspension parts, smaller more street-oriented front wheels and handfuls more of horsepower.
Others, such as Moto Guzzi, have more directly approached the legacy BMW R 1200 GS Adventure category with the successful introduction of the Stelvio in 2009 and the 2010 Stelvio NTX version in the European market.
First established in 1902, the modern Triumph (now located in Leicestershire England) has been launching category-winning machines, so we eagerly await more details on the two-new Adventure motorcycles. Our guess would be one model more oriented toward street adventure and the other more oriented toward off-road. Stay tuned here at UltimateMotorCycling.com for more details as we get them.
