2011 Norge GT
Moto Guzzi is a rarified brand in motorcycling, having earned iconic status in the motorcycling world with their fiercely unique expression of design and style.
New for 2011 the Italian manufacturer upgrades their popular sport toourer, the Norge GT (Gran Turismo), with the latest evolution of the 8V (4 valves per cylinder) engine.
The air-cooled 1151cc, 90-degree V-twin engine-mounted in Guzzi's classic transverse configuration-retains the signature Moto Guzzi stature with heads protruding from under the fuel tank.
The time-honored engine placement is accentuated with new, distinctly modern shapes in the bodywork, fairing, and bags, which are all tastefully linked by an ardently Italian design flow.
Windscreen is electronically adjusted to suit riding conditions on the fly and works in concert with the new fairing, which provides improved protection for rider and passenger and has been reshaped to increase airflow over the air-cooled engine.
Seat is "anti-slip" and constructed of "body forming" foam for added comfort and footpegs are vibration dampened to reduce rider fatigue.
The new 8-valve engine is complimented by a reworked stainless steel 2-int-1 exhaust system for better breathing, helping to push the horsepower rating to 102 hp at 5500 rpm.
A six-speed gearbox delivers power to the rear wheel through a trouble-free drive shaft (the shaft eliminating the maintenance required by a chain drive).
Dry weight of 542 pounds keeps the Norge within vicinity of the other bikes in its class. Fuel capacity is a healthy 6 gallons, which should render 200+ miles per tank (depending on how spirited the ride is).
With upgraded forks and rear shock for 2011, ABS brakes, and new styling, the Moto Guzzi Norge GT 8V is an alchemy of old school Italian masters possessing visceral performance, aimed at long range travel with a touch of elegance.

Comments
The 4 valve(8?)doesn't pop & bang at all on the overrun like the 2 valve(4?). Mind you I like that on my (2/4 valve) Norge.....
I have a 08 GTL, which I love. I don't find the rear end too soft, but then I'm quite light. If the new engine improves the mid-range torque then that would be more useful than more absolute horsepower, but I would prefer they addressed the fuelling to stop the popping and banging on over-run.
All round, it has been a wonderful bike, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Nice update with the 4 valve per cyclinder head. I own a 1998 Centauro...4 valve head...and 2008 Norge...2 valve head. The Norge is so well balanced,it's a delight to ride... very comfortable, good torque, reasonably light, and handles with ease. Go Guzzi...and be prepared to smile in your helmet!
Please bring to the US ASAP. This is my next bike. Colors available??
That looks sharp.
