2011 World Superbike Video

Donington Park hosted Round 2 of the 2011 World Superbike Championship Sunday, a first for the track since 2009.

At the revamped 12-turn circuit, Marco Melandri took his first win of the season on the Yamaha YZF-R1 at Race 1, joined on the podium by Effenbert Liberty Ducati rider Jakub Smrz and the man who doubled at Phillip Island, Althea Ducati's Carlos Checa.

In Race 2, Checa returned to his dominating ways, winning by 3.397 seconds over Melandri. Taking the final spot on the World Superbike podium was Aprilia Alitalia's Leon Camier.

It was a rough weekend for Camier's teammate, though. The reigning champion Max Biaggi made some mistakes in Race 1, including running off the track once, but he was able to grab seventh.

The Italian was then disqualified from Race 2 for failing to do a drive-through penalty due to a jump start.

Checa now has 91 points, 19 ahead of Melandri. Haslam, who finished fourth in both races at Donington Park, is in third with 53 points. Four behind in fourth is Biaggi.

Here are some video highlights of both races at Donington Park in the UK, Round 2 of 13 in the 2011 World Superbike Championship.
