2011 BMW SBK Wallpaper

With the exception of 1993, the FIM Superbike World Championship has been a regular visitor to Phillip Island Australia since 1990. And for 2011 the flowing motorcycle race will once again be the World SBK season opener on Feb. 26.

For Troy Corser, the BMW S1000RR works rider, Phillip Island marks not only his home circuit, but also a venue which holds many fond memories. In 1996 he celebrated his first Superbike world championship title at this racetrack and in front of his home crowd.

With seven victories at Phillip Island, Troy Corser heads the all-time winners list; in addition, he has held the lap record since 2007. His new BMW S1000RR teammate Leon Haslam also posted his first Superbike Superpole and overall victory here last year on the Suzuki.

For 2011, BMW Motorrad will also support the BMW Italia SBK Team in the FIM World Superbike Championship. The Englishman James Toseland will lead the second BMW S 1000 RR team with Italian Ayrton Badovini jumping on-board as his teammate.

BMW Italia will receive technical support from the Factory World SBK team, which is providing engines and electronics for the S 1000 RR.

The Italian S1000RR team, led by Andrea Buzzoni, made its debut in international motorcycle racing and won both the riders' and constructors' titles in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup, with Ayrton Badovini as lead rider for the team.
