After producing a dominant performance throughout the weekend and winning Round 2 of the TTXGP UK Championship at Anglesey, it was no surprise that Team Agni rider Jenny Tinmouth (#77) also secured the fastest lap of the race on lap 8 of 14, with a time of 1:20.922 and average speed of 68.955mph.
Tinmouth missed the first practice at the zero-emission motorcycle race because she and the team made the decision not to go out in the rain and concentrate on getting the bike prepared properly for qualifying later.
Despite missing the earlier practice, Tinmouth quickly settled down on the motorcycle and put in the most laps out of anyone in qualifying, securing the pole position time on lap 4 with a time of 1:26.234, 0.135 seconds ahead of her teammate Rob Moon. Although this session was mostly dry, making times incomparable, Tinmouth was some 27 seconds quicker than James McBride went earlier in the day.
With such a narrow margin between teammates at the front, this was shaping up to be a really close race, but come the next session on Sunday morning, Jenny clearly had other ideas and in just 3 laps stretched her best time advantage to 1.070 seconds ahead of Rob Moon, with a time of 1:22.179 on a completely dry track - an impressive 4 seconds faster than her own qualifying time.
It seemed that Tinmouth had really taken to the track and was comfortable on her Team Agni machine, which was quickly proven in the race. Despite not getting off of the start line too well, going from pole to third behind her teammate and the Electric Hussar bike of Pete Ward, both Team Agni bikes soon passed and dropped Pete.
Before long, Tinmouth passed her teammate and began to push on, gapping the field and barring a mistake, the win was hers. She kept her cool and maintained a fast pace, looking relaxed and comfortable on the bike and took the win with ease. Tinmouth's advantage over the rest of the pack was clear, finishing almost 22 seconds ahead of her teammate, setting a fastest lap time 1.778 seconds ahead of the second quickest rider and 1.482mph faster than the next best average lap speed.
Finishing first at Anglesey secured her the winning prize money and 25 points to put her top of the championship standings. Taking the Green Insurance Fastest Lap Award for Anglesey will contribute to her efforts of winning the overall prize of having her 2011 entry fees paid by Green Insurance, as the rider with the most fastest laps in the season.
Pete Ward, rider for Electric Hussar, also took another electric motorcycle for a spin at Anglesey. A lbit smaller and less powerful than his Mavizen TTX02, Pete tried one of the TTXGP paddock bikes kindly supplied by Govecs (govecs.com).
Pete Ward says: "I want one! They're so surprising! Fantastic little bikes and perfect for this kind of thing or a little commuter for work or to the shops. Really great!"
Also clearly impressed with the Govecs was Morris Packer, CEO of Morris Motorcycles and Team Manager for Morris Motorcycles Racing Team who has placed an order for one after using them at Snetterton and Anglesey.
There are 2 rounds of the UK Championship left, ending with the final at Brands Hatch on the 3rd October. TTXGP races will be shown on ESPN UK.
