Sturgis News
In addition to the high octane sights, sounds and biker-centric festivities, Sturgis Rally Week at the Legendary Buffalo Chip is all about one thing: motorcycles.
Rally-goers from around the world will not only have the opportunity to check out the thousands of bikes that make the yearly pilgrimage to the Chip, this year the premier entertainment venue and motorcycle travel destination will also be hosting the World Famous Rat's Hole Custom Chopper Show.
Considered by many as the Mack Daddy of all custom bike shows, the Rat's Hole Custom Chopper show is the longest running custom motorcycle show in the world.
Since its inception in 1973 by founder, Karl "Big Daddy Rat" Smith, the Rat's Hole Custom Bike Show has offered motorcycle fans a glimpse of the finest custom bikes from around the globe.
The show has managed to maintain its iconic industry stature by consistently assembling the world's premier custom motorcycles in a fun family-oriented atmosphere at an array of the largest motorcycle events in the world.
Scheduled for Thursday, August 12 on the grounds of the Legendary Buffalo Chip, the renowned Rat's Hole Custom Chopper Show will feature 24 classes as well as a Best of Show award.
Due to the show's many successes, it has also recently expanded to include two new classes for Metric Cruisers and Sport Bikes.
In addition, this year's Best of Show winner will receive their award on the Legendary Buffalo Chip's main stage before that night's featured performer, Jason Aldean takes the stage.
"We're ecstatic to have the Rat's Hole Chopper Show here at the Chip this year," explains Legendary Buffalo Chip owner, Rod Woodruff. "It's a great motorcycle industry tradition that we're proud to host and be associated with."
Over the past 38 years the Rat's Hole Custom Chopper Show has grown in leaps and bounds, however, it has always remained true to Karl Smith's guiding principal, to provide bike builders a venue to get noticed and recognized.
With Karl's son, Ted Smith, now at the helm, the Rat's Hole Custom Bike Show is taking it to the next level.
As a result of the show's strong tradition and reputation, it has been a launch bed for many of today's top motorcycle builders including Orange County Choppers, Dave Perewitz, Indian Larry, Cyril Huze and countless other industry icons.
Come and be a part of one of the biggest events in Sturgis at the Legendary Buffalo Chip. Register your bike at ratshole.com or visit buffalochip.com to make your 2010 Sturgis Rally accommodations.
