AMA Supercross / Motocross News
After 15 years together, Roger DeCoster and the Rockstar Makita Suzuki Supercross and Motocross Team will separate at the end of the 2010 AMA MX Season.
DeCoster will continue to lead the AMA Motocross team with rider Ryan Dungey for the remaining two rounds of MX action at Steel City this Saturday, and Pala Raceway on Sept. 11.
Under DeCoster's leadership, Dungey won the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship, and clinched the AMA Motocross Championship last weekend at the Moto-X 338 in Southwick, Round 10 of 12.
Ryan Dungey says: "With Roger DeCoster helping me along the way and my mechanic Goose - who's always on top of his game - I lined up at every race, confident that my team was behind me 110 percent."
"Even though the championship is done, Roger always tells me that a racer is only as good as their last race and I want to focus on finishing the season the best I can."
With DeCoster, Suzuki has earned numerous titles and championship, and helped Dungey earn his soon-to-be legendary status as a dirt bike racer. Rockstar Makita Suzuki says the team will begin searching for a new manager for the 2011 season, when they will work effortlessly to keep the number one plate on Dungey's Suzuki RMZ-450.
Don Sakakura (Yoshimura R&D of America Vice President) says: "You can never replace an icon like Roger. However, with Suzuki and Yoshimura's racing DNA still strong as ever, and with the core nucleus of the team staying the same, we are looking forward to defending the 2010's championships."
"Roger has made great contributions with Suzuki and certainly has the utmost respect, friendship, and our acknowledgement of a job well done. We wish him nothing but good luck in the future."
American Suzuki Motor Corp., the Rockstar Makita Suzuki racing team, Rockstar Energy Drink, Makita Industrial Tools, Yoshimura R&D of America, and all the sponsors of the team wish Roger the best in his future endeavors and thank him for the great years spent together at the races.
