MotoGP Friday FP1 Results

After dominating last weekend's race at Indy, Dani Pedrosa opened up the Misano Grand Prix in strong fashion, the Repsol Honda rider quickest in MotoGP Free Practice 1 on Friday.

The Spaniard posted a 1:34.772 on the circuit in San Marino, becoming the only rider to break the 1:35 mark. On lap 25, he also posted the fastest lap of the circuit with his quick time.

The Honda RC212V was performing well at the 2.625-mile circuit; the second quickest man was Pedrosa's teammate, Andrea Dovizioso. The Italian was 0.612 of a second slower than Pedrosa.

And like always, the other man on top was Pedrosa's fellow countryman, Jorge Lorenzo. The Fiat Yamaha rider and series leader posted 1:35.444, and was the first of four Yamahas to post under the 1:36 mark.

Nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi posted the fourth quickest time, the Italian giving his home fans a 1:35.539.

The next two quickest times came from the American Monster Tech 3 duo of Colin Edwards and Ben Spies, respectively. Edwards, who struggled with suspension settings on his YZF-M1 at Indy, posted a 1:35.834.

Spies, who qualified on the pole at Indy and finished second there, posted a 1:35.892.

Then came the Ducati Team, as Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner were seventh and eight fastest. Hayden ran off the track, but wasn't harmed. Stoner again reported his struggles with suspension setup on the Ducati GP10.

Ninth fastest went to San Carlo Gresini Honda rider Marco Melandri, and tenth went to Rizla Suzuki rider Loris Capirossi.
