Superbike News
One of the revelations of the 2010 World Superbike season, Luca Scassa is preparing to face up to the Silverstone weekend with the aim of repeating his splendid form at Brno, but this time with a totally different outcome.
The Italian was well up in qualifying at the Brno World SBK round and succeeded in notching up a second row grid position with sixth quickest time in Superpole.
But things took a turn for the worse in the first race, when a crash took him out of contention and left him in hospital with two micro bone fractures to his left foot.
After two weeks' rest Scassa is now ready to get back on board his WSBK Ducati 1098 R machine again and compete against his World Superbike rivals.
Luca Scassa says: "I was really disappointed to leave Brno like that," said the former Italian Superbike and Superstock 1000 champion, "we had been going well since Friday and our superb qualifying form gave us the impression we could be up there at the front. Unfortunately my crash ruined everything but these incidents can happen."
"For once I took the advice of the doctors and for four days I left my foot rest totally so as not to make the small fractures any worse and then some lengthy magnetic therapy sessions worked wonders, even though I won't be 100% fit at Silverstone."
"The circuit has changed and for me it's totally new, seeing as I have never raced here. I want to make amends for the misfortune of three weeks ago to score some points in the standings, me and my team still have a point to prove in this 2010 season."
