AMA Pro Racing
When the AMA Pro Road Racing series comes to New Jersey Motorsports Park for the upcoming AMA Pro Racing Superbike Weekend, Sept. 3-5, 2010, not only will they see an exciting line up of AMA Pro National Guard Superbike, Daytona Sportbike, Supersport and Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson XR1200 Series races, they will have the opportunity to support an important cause by riding around the actual 2.25-mile track.
For $20.00, fans can participate in the track's popular Fan Laps and support the Rett Syndrome Research Trust at the same time.
Fans will be able to purchase tickets for the Fan Laps that will take place during the mid-day lunch break Saturday, Sept. 4, and also Sunday, Sept. 5 through the NJMP website njmp.com and also at the track at the NJMP Program Sales Kiosk by the Media Center.
Of the $20.00 purchase price for 4-5 laps of the Thunderbolt Raceway track, $5.00 will be donated to the Rett Syndrome Research Trust Foundation.
Rett Syndrome is the most physically disabling of the autism spectrum disorders. It strikes at random in early childhood, affecting little girls almost exclusively.
Currently there is no treatment beyond supportive care, however recently Rett Syndrome was reversed in mice giving hope that a cure can be found to helps the girls and women with Rett Syndrome. First recognized only 25 years ago, the prevalence of Rett Syndrome equals that of Cystic Fibrosis, Hunting's and ALS but is vastly under funded in comparison to those disorders.
In addition to the exciting opportunity to ride the racetrack where the stars of AMA Pro Road Racing will be competing all weekend, each ticket will enter each ticket buying participant an opportunity to win some unique and special prizes through a drawing each day. Topping the list of drawing items will be a signed Ben Bostrom Shoei X-Twelve B-Boz TC-8 Replica Helmet as worn by SuperBike winning rider Ben Bostrom.
Bostrom won the recent AMA Pro SuperBike race at Laguna Seca and is right in the thick of the championship battle on his Pat Clark Motorsports Yamaha. The lucky drawing winner will also have their picture taken with Bostrom after they receive the very special Shoei helmet. Other lucky winners will receive a Cortech Riding Jacket (2) or a Cortech Bike Tank Bag (2).
But most of all, participating fans will have a chance to make a difference in someone's life, the most important prize of all.
The driving force behind this very worthy effort is Carrie Aquino, who, along with being the Mother of Team Graves Yamaha Daytona SportBike rider Tommy Aquino, will be on hand to help support the Fan Laps activity all weekend.
Make sure to say hi and thank her for her hard work and dedication to this important cause. Thanks also go to New Jersey Motorsports Park for supporting this effort and of course all the fans that sign up for the Fan Laps.
