The GEICO Powersports AMA EnduroCross is headed into some uncharted territory this Friday.
The series is racing for the first time at the Pepsi Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, and series riders are excited to show their skills off to a new audience.
Matt Crouch (Geico Powersports team newcomer) says: "We've never been there before. It's a new venue they added this year. It should be good though. Hopefully it won't be so hot in Indy. I'm looking forward to it either way."
Team star Geoff Aaron is hot on the heels of series leader Taddy Blazusiak. The defending series champion Blazusiak and Aaron, a 10-time Trails champion, have finished 1-2, respectively, at the first two Endurocross events of the season.
Geoff Aaron says: "I'm really looking forward to this new race in a new venue. We never really know what's going to happen until we get there. Hopefully the track is cool. I want to have a good run and maybe put an end to Taddy's streak."
Round 3 of Endurocross is being run as part of a motorcycle-centric weekend in Indianapolis. Also drawing a throng of cycle fans to Circle City is the Indy Mile Grand National and the Moto GP.
Ryan Rodgers says: "There's going to be a big crowd there, and it's going to be a fun weekend. There are a couple other races going on so I think the atmosphere is going to be a lot like the final in Las Vegas."
"I don't want to say it'll be a party but it's going to be fun. I know my speed's there, and I'm looking to do some big things in Indy."
Crouch also said he has sharpened his skills ahead of this weekend's event.
Matt Crouch says: "I like where (the bike) is at. I just need to not make mistakes. It's kind of stupid to say but it's a lot easier said than done. I need to practice more but I'm looking forward to it, and it should be good."
Showing a lot of skill in the first tow races of the year, Kyle Redmond appears ready to challenge for the podium. The 22-year-old Californian has successfully qualified for both Pro Mains, a feat in and of itself.
Looking to reach the next level of performance, crowd favorite "Wild" Wally Palmer said he plans to change up his riding style to make it through to the Pro Main.
JT Bennett (Team Owner) says: "I'm looking forward to Indy. They told me to calm it down a little, so I'm took some time to ride in the off week and to be better prepared for Indy. It's a new venue, and there should be a huge crowd so I'm really excited, and hoping to make some improvements and make it in the night show."
Bennett will continue to ride earlier in the day in the amateur ranks so he can be free to help his pro teammates in the evening.
Practice and qualifying begins at 10 a.m. EDT on Friday with the doors re-opening for the night show at 6:30 p.m. Opening ceremonies start at 7:30 p.m.
