Motorcycle Recall
MV Agusta Motor S.P.A. (MV Agusta) is recalling certain model year 2010 F4 motorcycles manufactured between February 10th and April 19th, 2010 that are equipped with AIR FILTER FRAME (part number 8000B4061).
The air filter frame may slip out of position and allow intake air to bypass the filter. This presents the possibility of debris entering the throttle body assembly and interfering with throttle operation, increasing the risk of a malfunction or crash.
Owners of the MV Agusta motorcycles in question are advised to refrain from riding them until the motorcycle is inspected by an authorized dealer or mechanic.
The F4 is the Italian manufacturer's sport machine, equipped with a 998cc in-line 4-cylinder engine. Founded in 1945, MV Agusta is currently owned by Harley-Davidson. All MV Agusta motorcycles continue to be built at the brand's factory in Italy.
MV Agusta voluntarily issued the recall June 15, 2010. The NHTSA listed the recall under Defects and Recalls ID number: 10V280000 (go to nhtsa.gov to read the recall).
MV Agusta will notify owners directly and dealers will make repairs free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on or about June 28, 2010.
Owners may contact MV Agusta at 1-414-342-4680 and/or contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or go to safecar.gov to learn more.
